On November 6th, 1998 Steve and Sheila Clifton, parents of Maddie held a news conference in the neighborhood where they live and where she disappeared in Jacksonville Florida 

November 4th-9th: More than 1,000 people from across Northeast Florida search for missing Maddie, combing her neighborhood and passing out fliers. 

July 6th, 1999 Joshua Phillips trial begins



July 8th: Trial ends with conviction of first-degree murder after Phillip's lawyer Richard D. Nichols presents no witnesses. 



August 20th, 1999, the judge sentenced Joshua to life in prison without parole, the only possible sentence after the jury's verdict.

November 17th, 2017 
Now 33, Phillips gets a new sentencing hearing per the Supreme Court's ruling that Juveniles cannot automatically be sent to prison for life. The results are the same as Judge Waddell Wallace again sentences him to life.
